Fresh apple bread

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sugar
½ cup Shortening
2 \N Eggs, beaten
1 cup Tart apples,ground or grated
2 cups All purpose flour, sifted
½ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 cup Broken pecan pieces
1½ tablespoon Buttermilk
½ teaspoon Vanilla
3 tablespoons Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and apples. Sift dry ingredients together. Mix with sugar mixture; add pecans. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Pour into greased 10x6x3 inch loaf pan. Mix sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over top. Bake for 1 hour at 350~.
