American-style rice

Yield: 3 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Uncooked rice
2 cups Cold water
½ each To 1 teaspoon salt

Put rice, water, and salt in a 2-quart saucepan; cover with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a vigorous boil then turn heat as low as possible. Continue to cook 14 minutes. Do not stir or lift cover.

Turn off heat; allow rice to steam, covered, for 10 minutes more Makes 3 cups.
