1 teaspoon | Cinnamon or apple pie spice |

SIFT TOGETHER: ½ CUP SIFT
COMBINE: 1 SLIGHTLY BEATE
Add: 4 cups apples ( 4 to 6 medium) pared and sliced ½ cup almonds, slivered or chopped ½ cup raisins or currents. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Turn into well-greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan.
Combine: ½ cup sifted enriched flour ¼ cup sugar ¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon ¼ tsp. salt 1 tsp. grated lemon rind Cut in: ¼ cup butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle over apples in pan. Bake in moderate oven (375 F) 30 to 35 minutes. Cut into squares. Serve warm with whipped cream.
