White trash stewed cabbage

Measure Ingredient
1 \N Head of cabbage, cut into
\N \N Quarters
3 \N 4 slices of fatback
\N \N OR
1 cup Virginia smoked ham chunks

Break up cabbage chunks with your hands. Fry down the meat. Add cabbage and continue to fry for about 10 minutes, stirring often.

Add 1 cup water and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, cover and steam for about 20 minutes on medium heat. 35 minutes if you prefer it grayer.
