Ingredients

| 3 | tablespoons | Shortening, melted |
| 1 | cup | Plus 2 T buttermilk |
| 1 | cup | Plus 2 T water |
Directions
Combine dry ingredients. Add shortening, buttermilk, and water; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape into oblong patties, using ⅓ cup batter per patty. Stir mixture frequently to prevent cornmeal from settling. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
