¾ pounds | Butter |
2 teaspoons | Baking powder |
1 teaspoon | Ground ginger |
1 teaspoon | Coriander seeds |
1 teaspoon | Salt |
1 pounds | Warmed black treacle |
Set oven to 350/F or Mark 4. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, rub in the butter and add the treacle. Knead together and roll out fairly thinly on a floured sur face. Cut into large rounds, place on a greased baking tray and bake until golden; about 20 minutes. The actual cooking time depends on the thickness and the size of the cakes.
