Sauerkraut with ham shank

Ingredients

| 1½ | pounds | Ham shank |
| 1 | pint | Water |
| 1½ | pounds | Sauerkraut |
| 1 | Raw potato; grated | |
| 1 | pinch | Salt |
| 1 | pinch | Sugar |
Directions
Bring ham & water to a boil, reduce heat & simmer for 1-½ hours. Place sauerkraut under ham in cooking liquid. Bring to second boil, reduce heat & simmer for 1 hour. Thicken the liquid with the potato, bring to a boil & season with salt & sugar.
