Sauerkraut with ham shank

Yield: 4 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1½ pounds Ham shank
1 pint Water
1½ pounds Sauerkraut
1 \N Raw potato; grated
1 pinch Salt
1 pinch Sugar

Bring ham & water to a boil, reduce heat & simmer for 1-½ hours. Place sauerkraut under ham in cooking liquid. Bring to second boil, reduce heat & simmer for 1 hour. Thicken the liquid with the potato, bring to a boil & season with salt & sugar.
