Pork chops italiano

Ingredients

4Pork loin chops; 1\" thick
Salt; to taste
Pepper; to taste
1tablespoonOil, vegetable
½poundsMushrooms, fresh; sliced
1mediumOnion; chopped
1smallGarlic clove; crushed
2mediumsGreen peppers; cut into thin strips
16ouncesTomato sauce
¼teaspoonOregano, whole; or basil
1tablespoonLemon juice
¼cupSherry, dry

Directions

Sprinkle pork chops with salt and pepper; brown on both sides in hot oil. Place chops in a shallow 2-quart baking dish; cover with mushrooms, and set aside.

Add onion, garlic, and green pepper to skillet; cook until tender. Add remaining ingredients, and simmer 5 minutes; pour over chops. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until chops are done.
