Oscar's broccoli soup (with meat)

| 4 | slices | Smoked bacon; diced |
| 8 | ounces | Rib-eye steak; ground |
| 1 | cup | Cooked mashed rutabagas |
| 1 | cup | Mashed potatoes |
| 1 | cup | Cooked white rice |
| 1 | pounds | Broccoli; diced and blanched |
| 1 | cup | Diced celery |
| 1 | cup | Diced green bell pepper |
| 1 | cup | Diced onion |
| 2 | Cloves garlic; minced | |
| 1 | quart | Skim milk |
| ½ | cup | Butter |
| 1 | cup | Half-and-half |
| 1 | cup | Crumbled cheese crackers |
| ½ | cup | Chopped parsley |
| 1 | teaspoon | Worcestershire sauce |
| 1 | teaspoon | Hot sauce |
| 1 | teaspoon | Ketchup |
Directions
In a heavy soup kettle or Dutch oven, fry the bacon and reserve the grease.
In the bacon grease, brown the steak, then add all the other ingredients.
Simmer for 20-25 minutes. Sherry may be added prior to serving if desired.
