Old fashioned date nut loaf

| 8.00 | ounce | Dates, pitted, chopped |
| ¾ | cup | Walnuts, chopped |

| 1½ | cup | Flour, all purpose |
| ¾ | cup | Sugar, white |
| 1½ | teaspoon | Baking soda |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt |
Directions
Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Grease and flour a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
In a small saucepan, bring water and margarine to a boil; pour over dates in a small bowl. Allow mixture to stand 1 minute. Stir to blend. Add nuts, eggs and vanilla. In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt; stir into date mixture until blended. DO NOT OVERMIX. Pour into pan. Bake 65 to 70 minutes or until a tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack 10 minutes;; loosen edges with a spatula and turn out on a wire rack to cool completely.
