2¾ c Sifted flour ⅓ c Brown sugar 1 ts Baking soda ⅓ c Dark molasses 1 ts Salt butter 1 ¼ ts Ginger, ground
Sift flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and sugar into bowl. Add brown sugar, molasses, egg, and melted shortening. Stir to mix thoroughly. Chill dough for at least one hour. Roll on floured board to ¼" thickness. Cut with floured cutters and bake on a greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
