½ teaspoon | Basil leaves, dried |
¼ teaspoon | Thyme, ground |

6 \N | Peppercorns |
1 \N | Bay leaf |
1½ pounds | Small mushrooms, fresh |
Combine all ingredients (except mushrooms) in a large saucepan. Heat to boiling. Cover; simmer 10 minutes. Add mushrooms; simmer uncovered for 3 minutes. Transfer mushrooms and liquid into a bowl.
Cover; chill several hours or overnight, stirring occasionally.
Drain and serve as an appetizer on a relish tray. Makes about 3½ cups.
