Lithuanian sauerkraut supper

½Head cabbage, chopped fine
2smallsApples, diced
3tablespoonsBrown sugar
teaspoonCaraway seed
1largeCan sauerkraut
½cupWater
2poundsAny smoked sausage, cut up
Into 2-inch pieces

Directions

Fry bacon until crisp; add onion. Fry onion until golden brown. Chop fresh cabbage; add ½ cup water and simmer until cabbage is soft.

Add diced apples, caraway seed and brown sugar. Now add the sauerkraut. Mix well; add the smoked sausage and cook all the ingredients for 1 hour or bake in the oven for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
