Judy chapman's dill pickles

Ingredients

3quartsWater
1quartVinegar
1cupPickling salt
8Hot peppers
8clovesGarlic
teaspoonPowdered alum
Dill

Directions

Bring water, vinegar and salt to a boil. Pack clean cucumbers in jars. Add 1 or 2 hot peppers, 2 cloves garlic, 2 ts. dill seed or equal fresh dill and ⅛ ts. alum in each jar. fill jars with boiling liquid and seal.

Process in boiling water vath 10 minutes, if desired.
