Jam cake #1

Yield: 12 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Butter
2 cups Sugar
4 Eggs
3 cups Flour
1 cup Blackberry jam
1 teaspoon (scant) soda
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Cloves
1 cup Fresh buttermilk
1 can Crushed pineapple
1½ cup Sugar (use less if the pineapple syrup is heavy)
1 tablespoon Butter
1 tablespoon Flour


Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs. Combine soda, spices and flour.

Alternate flour mixture and buttermilk in egg mixture. Add jam. Bake in 3 pans at 350 degrees.

To make filling: Mix all ingredients and boil until thickened. Spread on cake.
