Italian sausage strata

Yield: 4 Servings

Measure Ingredient
½ pounds Italian sausage
½ cup Chopped green pepper
1 medium Chopped onion
1 can Drained tomatoes; (16 oz.)
½ \N Loaf Italian bread
3 \N Eggs
2½ cup Milk
1 teaspoon Salt
\N \N Grated Parmesan cheese

Remove casing from sausage. Brown sausage in large skillet for 10 minutes, breaking it up with wooden spoon. Stir in ½ cup chopped green pepper and chopped onion. Cook another 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook 15 minutes.

Slice Italian bread. Place half the slices in bottom of a buttered 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish. Spread with sausage mixture. Top with remaining bread.

Beat eggs; stir in milk and salt. Pour over bread and sausage; sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake 1 hour in 325 degrees oven. Serves 4.
