Ingredients

| 4 | cups | Water |
| 1 | cup | Sugar |
| 12 | Whole cloves | |
| 6 | Whole allspice | |
| 4 | Sticks (1-inch) cinnamon | |
| ½ | teaspoon | Powdered ginger |
| 1 | Orange; rind of | |
| 1 | Lemon; rind of | |
| 2 | cups | Strained orange juice |
| 1 | cup | Strained lemon juice |
| 1 | Bottle (750-ml) Burgundy or Claret wine | |
Directions
In a saucepan combine water, sugar, spices and citrus rinds. Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, remove from heat and let stand for 1 hour. Strain and add fruit juices and wine. Yield: 12 to 16 servings.
