Yield: 6 servings
|1 pack||(14 oz) caramels|
|⅔ cup||Canned evaporated milk, divided|
|1 \N||German chocolate cake mix, or light chocolate cake mix|
|1 cup||Chopped nuts|
|1 cup||Chocolate chips|
Mix and melt caramels with ⅓ cup evaporated milk, stirring often.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Separately. combine cake mix with margarine, ⅓ cup evaporated milk (or more if needed) and nuts.
Place half the mixture into a greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake 6 minutes, Sprinkle baked mixture wit chocolate chips, then spread with caramel mixture. Spread remaining mixture on top. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool then cut into squares.
