Yield: 1 Servings
|2 cups||Granulated sugar|
|3 \N||Whole eggs|
|1 cup||Sour cream|
|1 teaspoon||Baking soda|
|1 teaspoon||Baking powder|
Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. In a small bowl combine flour, soda, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. (Dough will be stiff). Chill overnight. Roll out ½ inch thick and cut with large cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake 10-12 minutes in moderate (350) oven.
NOTES : Instead of dairy sour cream we always used 1 cup of milk to which 1 tablespoon of vinegar had been added.
