Golden cream filling

Measure Ingredient
½ cup Sugar
3 tablespoons Cake flour
¼ teaspoon Salt
1½ cup Milk
2 \N Egg yolks; slighty beaten
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Combine sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler. Add milk gradually, mixing thoroughly. Place over boiling water and cook 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour small amount of mixture over egg yolks, stirring vigorously; return to double boiler and cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Add vanilla. Cool. Makes enough filling to spread between two 9" layers.
