Gold layer cake

Measure Ingredient
2 teaspoons Baking powder Salt
½ cup Butter
1 cup Sugar
3 \N Egg yolks
1 teaspoon Vanilla
¾ cup Milk

Preheat oven to 375F. Have all ingredients at room temp. Sift flour & resift with baking powder & salt. Add butter & cream till soft. Add sugar gradually & cream till light. Beat in egg yolks. Add vanilla or lemon flavouring. Add flour mixture to butter migxture in 3 parts, alternating with milk. Stir batter smooth after each addition. Bake in greased layer pans about 25 min. Spread LEMON FILLING between layers when cool. Frost MAKES: 2 8" ROUND CAKES Source: _Joy of Cooking_
