German chocolate cake icing (coconut pecan) i

Measure Ingredient
⅔ cup Sugar
2 eaches Egg yolks
½ teaspoon Vanilla
⅔ cup Chopped pecans
⅔ cup Evaporated milk
⅓ cup Crisco shortening
1⅓ cup Flaked coconut (3 1/2 oz.)

Combine sugar, milk, egg yolks, Crisco and vanilla. Cook and stir over medium heat about 12 minutes or until mixture comes to a boil.

Remove from heat, add coconut and pecans. Beat until frosting is thick. Cool 15 minutes.

Makes only enough to spread on top of layers.
