Fresh apple cake w/sauce

3cupsApples, peeled and chopped
2cupsSugar
1cupButter or oil
3Eggs
2cupsSelf-rising flour
1teaspoonCinnamon
½teaspoonNutmeg
1cupNuts (optional)
1cupRaisins (optional)
1teaspoonVanilla

Directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease "2" 8 or 9 inch cake pans. Or Grease 1 large pan... Place chopped apples in a bowl; add sugar and mix, let stand 10 minutes. Add melted butter and eggs, beat with a wooden spoon. Sift dry ingredients together and add to cake mixture.

Stir in nuts, raisins, and vanilla. Pour into prepared pans. Bake for 55 minutes. Serve with sauce.

Sauce: 1 cup sugar ¼ cup butter : ½ cup evaporated milk 1 tsp. vanilla Bring first 3 ingredients to boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla.
