Date nut cookies

Yield: 24 Servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Shortening
2 cups Brown sugar
2 eaches Egg
To above mix
½ cup Water
1 teaspoon Vanilla
In another bowl mix;
3½ cup Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Baking soda
⅛ teaspoon Cinnamon
Mix well, then combine bowls
Stir constantly
2 cups Dates -- chopped
¾ cup Sugar
¾ cup Water
When thick add
1 cup Pecans -- chopped

FILLING; COOK UNTIL THICK

drop 1 teaspoon dough, add ½ teaspoon filling and ½ teaspoon dough on top. Bake at 375
