| 1 | cup | Shortening | 
| 2 | cups | Brown sugar | 
| 2 | eaches | Egg | 
| To above mix | ||
| ½ | cup | Water | 
| 1 | teaspoon | Vanilla | 
| In another bowl mix; | ||
| 3½ | cup | Flour | 
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt | 
| 1 | teaspoon | Baking soda | 
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Cinnamon | 
| Mix well, then combine bowls | ||
| Stir constantly | ||
| 2 | cups | Dates -- chopped | 
| ¾ | cup | Sugar | 
| ¾ | cup | Water | 
| When thick add | ||
| 1 | cup | Pecans -- chopped | 
Directions
FILLING; COOK UNTIL THICK
drop 1 teaspoon dough, add ½ teaspoon filling and ½ teaspoon dough on top. Bake at 375
