Creamy macaroni and cheese (april 1975)

2cupsMilk
2cups(8oz) Elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
8slicesProcessed American cheese --
Diced (about 6oz)
½teaspoonSalt -- or to taste
Freshly ground pepper -- to
Taste
Minced green onion --
(optional)

Directions

In a large saucepan beat egg and milk until well blended. Stir in macaroni and cheese and cook and stir over very low heat until cheese is melted and sauce is thickened. (Do not boil) Stir in salt and pepper. Pour into serving dish and garnish with onion. Makes 4 servings.
