1⅔ cup | All-purpose flour |
¾ cup | Sugar |
⅓ cup | HERSHEY'S Cocoa |
1 teaspoon | Baking powder |
1 teaspoon | Baking soda |
1 teaspoon | Salt |
¼ teaspoon | Ground cinnnamon |
1 dash | Ground nutmeg |
½ cup | Shortening |
2 | Eggs |
1 cup | Applesauce |
½ cup | Chopped pecans |
VANILLA GLAZE (recipe follows) |
Heat oven to 350 F. Grease bottom only of 9x5x3-inch loaf pan. In large mixer bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add shortening, eggs and applesauce; beat just until blended. Stir in pecans. Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Prepare VANILLA GLAZE; drizzle over bread. 1 loaf (14 servings).
VANILLA GLAZE: In small bowl, stir together ½ cup powdered sugar and 3 to 4 teaspoons milk. About ¼ cup glaze.
