Cherry almond bread

Yield: 1 loaf

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Sugar
½ cup Margarine; softened
2 Eggs
2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
½ teaspoon Salt
1 cup Buttermilk
1 cup Almonds; chopped
10 ounces Maraschino cherries; drained and chopped
1 teaspoon Almond extract

Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, cream sugar, margarine, and eggs until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Blend into creamed mixture with buttermilk. Stir in almonds, cherries and almond extract. Pour batter into greased 9" loaf pan. Bake 55 to 60 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
