Ingredients

| 2 | pounds | Sweet potatoes, peeled and coarsely chopped |
| 2 | cups | Water |
| 1 | cup | Sugar |
| 1 | cup | Packed dark brown sugar |
| ⅔ | Unpeeled orange, sliced and seeded | |
| ⅔ | Unpeeled lemon, sliced and seeded | |
| 2 | Sticks cinnamon | |
| 1 | tablespoon | Vanilla |
| ½ | teaspoon | Ground mace |
Directions
Put everything in a pot. Stir. Cover and cook till it comes to a high boil, about ten minutes. Stir, reduce heat, simmer 20 minutes. Uncover, stir, and cook until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
