Bread pudding with lemon hard sauce

Ingredients

2cupsMilk
½cupSugar
½cupRaisins
2Eggs; beaten
¼cupButter or margarine
¼teaspoonSalt
4cupsBread crumbs
½teaspoonNutmeg

Directions

Combine the butter or margarine, sugar, salt, and raisins with the milk.

Heat to a boil. Pour over bread crumbs. Allow to set for 5 minutes. Add the eggs, nutmeg and mix well. Place into a buttered casserole. Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes. Serve with a Lemon Sauce or a Hard Sauce. Hard Sauce: Cream ½ cup butter or margarine with 1½ cups sugar. Add 1 tsp. vanilla extract and beat until fluffy.
