Bran candy

Yield: 6 Servings

Measure Ingredient
2 cups Brown sugar
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Milk
⅛ teaspoon Baking soda
1 tablespoon Butter or butter substitute
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 cup Bran

Boil all ingredients except bran to soft ball stage (234 - 238 F).

Cool to room temperature. Add bran. If desired, ½ cup raisins, dates, or nuts may be added. Beat until stiff enough to knead. Turn onto board dusted with powdered sugar. Knead until smooth. Shape into a roll and slice. Margaret E. Johnson, Kent, WA.
