Braised onion sauce for pasta

poundsOnions, peeled, sliced
¼cupMadeira grated cheese

Directions

Saute onions in butter. Stir in sugar, lower heat and cook very slowly one hour. Stir in the wine, cook briefly, and pour over a pound of freshly cooked pasta. Pass the Parmesan.
