Turnovers

Measure Ingredient
3 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
½ cup Lard or shortening
2 Eggs
½ cup Milk
Filling

Stir flour, baking powder & salt. Cut in shortening. Beat egg with milk. Add to flour mixture stirring till combined. Form dough into balls; cover & chill 1 hour. Divide dough into 16 portions. On lightly floured surface roll each to a 6" circle. Place about 3 Tbls.

filling on each. Moisten edges with a little water, fold in half sealing edges with fork. Fry or bake as directed. To Fry: Fry in deep hot oil for about 4 minutes. To Bake: Place in baking sheet.

Brush tops with a little milk, sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes.
