Syrup cookies

Yield: 24 Servings

Measure Ingredient
½ cup Lard; melted
½ cup Butter; melted
1 cup Brown sugar
1 cup White syrup
½ teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
½ teaspoon Nutmeg
½ teaspoon Allspice
1 teaspoon Ginger
5 cups Flour; sifted
2 teaspoons Soda water; DISSOLVED IN
2 tablespoons Hot water

Combine the melted shortening, sugar and syrup. Sift the salt and spices with the flour, and add alternately with the soda and water. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. Roll very thin, cut in favorite shapes with cookie cutters and bake on cookie sheet.
