Holiday sugar cookies

Yield: 42 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 cup Butter or margarine, softened
1½ cup Confectioners' sugar
1 \N Egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Almond extract
2½ cup All-purpose flour
\N \N Decorators' sugar, optional

You can use heart cutter and red decorators' sugar for Valentines, shamrock cutter and green decorators' sugar for St. Patrick's, etc.

Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add egg and extracts. Stir in flour; mix well. Chill several hours. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with a 2½ or 3-inch cookie cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheets; sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Yield: 3 ½ dozen cookies.
