Measure | Ingredient |

1½ cup | Sugar |
1 cup | Cooking oil |
1 cup | Cane syrup |
1 cup | Boiling water |
2 teaspoons | Baking soda |
1 teaspoon | Ginger |
½ teaspoon | Ground cloves |
2½ cup | Flour |
2 \N | Eggs; beaten |
1 cup | Nuts; optional |
Mix soda in boiling water; add syrup. Mix dry ingredients together; combine the two mixture; add oil. Add beaten eggs last; nuts optional. An electric mixer is not necessary. Pour mixture into a greased and floured loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
