Yield: 1 Servings
Measure | Ingredient |
---|---|
2 cups | Old-fashioned; (not quick) oats |
1 cup | Shredded coconut |
½ cup | Wheat germ |
1½ cup | Chopped walnuts or almonds |
1 teaspoon | Salt |
1 can | (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk |
¼ cup | Oil |
1½ cup | Raisins |
This is an old recipe from the Sun-Maid Raisin company that my son (he's 9 now) and I have made for years together. He's picky; it's good. You can add spices (cinnamon or nutmeg) with the oil, too.
Combine oats, coconut, wheat germ, nuts and salt in a large bowl. Stir in condensed milk; add oil and mix thoroughly. Spread mixture on shallow baking pan lined with waxed paper. Bake in 300 degree oven, stirring occasionally, 1 hour or until golden. Remove from oven and stir in raisins while still warm. Store in a tightly covered container. Makes 8 cups.
