Split pea stew

Yield: 8 servings

Measure Ingredient
1 pounds Beef Stew
3 slices Bacon
1 Onion,cut into eights
6 cups Water
1 cup Dry Split Peas
1 Lime,juice and rind
2 teaspoons Salt
¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
¼ teaspoon Turmeric
16 ounces Whole Kernel Corn,drained
16 ounces Carrots,drained

In a dutch oven, brown beef with bacon. Add onion and 2 cups water.

Simmer 1 hour. Add 4 cups of water, split peas, lime juice and rind, salt, nutmeg and turmeric. Simmer one hour more. Add corn and carrots. Heat therough, serve.
