Directions
Here are two of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes. They are from the Better Homes and Gardens Homemade Cookies Cookbook. By the way, my copy looks like it has really had the wear and tear (which it has)! In large bowl cream butter and granulated sugar. Add eggs, molasses, and peel; beat well. Stir flour with next 7 ingredients; add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Cover; chill.
Divide dough in fourths. On lightly floured surface, roll each portion to ⅛-inch thickness. With knife, cut into diamonds. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees till edges are lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes.
Mix powdered sugar and milk; add more milk, if needed, till of spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies. Makes about 10 dozen.
