Smokies with caraway kraut

Ingredients

| 3 | cups | Onion; chopped |
| 1 | Garlic clove; minced | |
| 2 | tablespoons | Shortening; melted |
| 16 | ounces | Sauerkraut |
| 1 | tablespoon | Paprika |
| 2 | teaspoons | Sugar |
| 1 | teaspoon | Caraway seeds |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Pepper |
| 1 | pounds | Sausage, smoked links; cut diagonally into thirds |
Directions
Saute onions and garlic in shortening. Add remaining ingredients except sausage; cover and simmer over low heat 20 minutes. Add sausage; cover and simmer 10 minutes.
