Measure Ingredient
4 cups Flour
1 pounds Brown sugar
1 cup Butter
2 cups Boiling water
1 cup Molasses
2 teaspoons Baking soda
1 pinch Salt

Combine flour, sugar, and butter and blend to fine crumbs.

Reserve 1½ cups of the crumbs for the topping.

Mix together water, molasses, and soda. Add to remaining crumbs. Mix well. Batter will be rather thin. Pour into a well-greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.

Sprinkle the 1 ½ cups crumb mixture on top.
