Shoofly cake

Yield: 8 servings

Measure Ingredient
2½ cup All purpose flour
½ cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking soda
½ teaspoon Salt
½ cup Margarine
1 cup Hot water
½ cup Molasses

In mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Cut in margarine until mixture is like crumbs. Set aside. Stir together water and molasses. Remove ⅓ cup of the crumbs mixture and set aside. Into large amount of crumb mixture, add water and molasses mixture. Stir until blended. Put in greased 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
