Sausage and apple pizza

2 | tablespoons | Olive oil |
10 | ounces | Sweet Italian sausage; cut into 3/8\" slice |
2 | tablespoons | Unsalted butter |
4 | Golden Delicious apples; peeled, cored, cut into 1\" pieces | |
2 | tablespoons | Coarse-grain French mustard |
Directions
Preheat over to 450 degrees F. Prepare pizza dough. In a frying pan over medium heat, warm 1 tablespoon of the oil. Add the sausage and fry, stirring occasionally, until it begins to turn golden, about 3 minutes. Set aside. In another frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apples and cook, stirring constantly, until translucent, about 10 minutes.
Set aside. Brush the pizza dough with the mustard. Cover with the apples and sausage. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 400 degrees and bake until the crust is golden, about 10 minutes. Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon oil over the top and serve.
NOTES : Smoked ham, in place of the sausage, would be just as good.
