Santa maria barbecue beans

Ingredients

1poundsSmall pink beans; (pinquitos)
1Strip bacon; diced
½cupDiced ham
1smallClov garlic; minced
¾cupTomato puree
¼cupRed chili sauce; (Las Palmas brand if
; available)
1tablespoonSugar
1teaspoonDry mustard
1teaspoonSalt
1pinchMonosodium glutamate; (MSG) or Accent

Directions

1. Cover beans with water in large pot, let soak overnight.

2. Drain, cover with fresh water. Simmer two hours or until tender.

3. Saute bacon and ham until lightly browned. Add garlicup Saute. Add tomato puree, chili sauce, sugar mustard, salt and MSG.

4. Drain most of the water from beans. Add sauce, serve warm.
