Molasses crinkle cookies

Ingredients

¾ | cup | Soft shortening (Crisco) (I use 1 stick softened butter and 1/4 C shortening) |
1 | cup | Brown sugar, firmly packed |
1 | Egg | |
1 | cup | Dark molasses |
2¼ | cup | Sifted flour |
2 | teaspoons | Baking soda |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
½ | teaspoon | Ground cloves |
1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
1 | teaspoon | Ground ginger |

Mix thoroughly part "A". Add and mix thoroughly part "B". Chill dough (I mix it the night before). Preheat oven to 375F. Roll dough into walnut-size balls. Dip tops in white sugar. Place sugar-side up on greased cookie sheets. Sprinkle 2-3 drops of water on each for a crackled effect. Bake for about 10-12 minutes til set but not hard.
