| 1 | cup | Shortening |

| 1 | cup | Baking molasses |
| 1 | teaspoon | Cinnamon |

| ½ | teaspoon | Cloves; ground |
| 2 | teaspoons | Baking soda |
| 1 | cup | Water boiling |
| 1 | teaspoon | Baking powder |
| 5 | cups | Flour |
Directions

Cream the shortening with the sugar, then add the eggs and beat well. Add the water and enough flour to make a soft dough. Drop by teaspoonfull on a greased cookie sheet, sprinkle with sugar and bake.
