Ingredients

| 1 | cup | Sugar |
| 1 | cup | Shortening |
| 1 | cup | Molasses dark; plus |
| 3 | tablespoons | Molasses dark warm water |
| 1 | Egg | |
| 3 | teaspoons | Baking soda;add to water |
| 1 | teaspoon | Salt |
| 2 | teaspoons | Ginger |
| 2 | teaspoons | Cinnamon |
| 1 | teaspoon | Cloves |
Directions
Cream sugar and shortening, add molasses, then water, egg and remaining ingredients. Add enough flour to make a nice thick dough.
Chill several hours or overnite. Roll out and cut into 3" rounds.
