2 | teaspoons | Baking Powder |
1 | teaspoon | Baking Soda |

1 | cup | Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Grated |
3 | Jalapeno Chiles, Seeded | |
2 | larges | Eggs |
1½ | cup | Buttermilk |
3 | tablespoons | Unsalted Butter |
Directions
Heat a well-seasoned 9-inch cast-iron skillet over low heat. Into a bowl, sift together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add the cheese and the chiles, and toss the mixture well.
In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk. In the skillet, melt the butter and whisk it into the buttermilk mixture.
Add the buttermilk mixture to the cornmeal mixture and stir the batter until it is thoroughly mixed. Pour it into the heated skillet.
