Italian sausage & pepper loaves

Measure Ingredient
1½ pounds Italian sausage links
1 \N Onion; chopped 4 green bell pepper; diced
1 can Or 2 cups fresh mushrooms; optional
2 \N Jar Italian-style cooking sauce (16 oz) 4 loaves Italian style bread
\N \N Mozzarella cheese; shredded
\N \N Paprika

Cut sausage into 1-inch pieces and halve each piece lengthwise.

Brown susage well; remove to heavy large saucepan.

: In same skillet, saute bell peppers, onion and mushrooms. With slotted spoon, transfer into pot with meat, allowing excess fat to drain away. Stir in sauce and simmer all about 45 minutes, on low heat, stirring occasionally.

: Spoon onto split Italian bread. Sprinkle with cheese and paprika. Place under broiler until cheese is melted. Makes 6 sandwiches. Formatted by Mary Wilson, BWVB02B.
