Iroquois soup (u'nega'gei) (northeast)

Ingredients

1cupGreenor yellow onionw; chopp
2tablespoonsCornmeal
¾poundsHaddock, trout; or bass fill
cupFresh or frozen lima beans
(up to 2 cups
4Wild mushrooms; to 6 mushroo
(morels/crimini/shiitake)
(thinly sliced
2tablespoonsFresh parsley; chopped
2tablespoonsFresh dill; chopped
Salt and pepper

Directions

Recipe by: "Spirit of the Harvest, North American Place broth in a large saucepan. Add green onions and conrmeal. Simmer over low heat for 10 miutes. Add fish fillets, lima beans, and mushrooms. Continue cooking for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally and breaking the fish into small pieces.

Add parsley and dill. cook for 1 minute longer. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve. Serves 4 to 6. Spirit of the Harvest, North American Indian Cooking Olivia Liebermann.
