Holiday fruit compote

| 1¼ | cup | Sugar |
| 1 | tablespoon | Lemon peel -- grated |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
| ⅛ | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
| 4 | mediums | Apples -- peeled and sliced |
| 2 | cups | Fresh cranberries |
| ½ | cup | Dates -- chopped and pitted |
| ⅓ | cup | Walnuts -- chopped |
| Dairy sour cream or ice | ||
| Cream | ||
Directions
In slow-cooking pot, combine wine, butter, sukgar, lemon peel, and spices.
Add apples and cranberriess. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. Stir in dates and walnuts. Serve warm or cold. Delicious with topping of sour cream or used as a sundae sauce for ice cream.
